The top of the chest was sanded back and revived with 'Antique Pine' Briwax; the carcass painted in a mix of Original and Chateau Grey to achieve a shade of 'pistachio', and sealed with Polyvine Wax Finish Varnish. The drawer pulls were cleaned up with wire wool.
The armoire was similarly refinished to complement the drawers, and a touch of 'Old Ochre' added to accentuate the mouldings.
Whilst both pieces were quite fabulous in their original state, they were very different styles; refinishing them with paint ties them together, giving them longevity in their new and modern surroundings.
This little night stand has been painted in French Linen Chalk Paint™, and given a white wash top, before sealing with Annie's white wax. Gilding wax has been applied to the appliqué and pull, and the drawer painted and lined with wallpaper.
This bureau is painted in Farrow & Ball's Shaded White Estate Eggshell. The interior has been sprayed gold, sealed with clear wax for protection, and buffed. The old knobs have been replaced with cast iron French-style pulls, painted to complement, and gilding wax highlights added to edges, trimming, and balls of the claw foot legs.
